Another good night's sleep in which I remember trying to memorise what I had dreamed, but as I am writing this down in the afternoon, I cannot remember a thing. I don't understand why dreams are so difficult to remember. However, I do not want this becoming a dream diary, so perhaps its for the best.
I was surprised to find out how easy it is to look at other people's websites and change their content using some SSH commands. You might not think of this as being very significant, but this can be done with no more than a standard account.
I cycled to Sheona's house around midday as I couldn't contact her by phone and her voice mail wasn't active. I guess she was working as noone was in. For most of the afternoon I surfed the net in the Savings 4 U Club and intermittenly went to the Red Roaster and read the Sunday papers.
Alan and Alice met up with me in the Red Roaster shortly before it closed. Alan had his usual double hot chocolate, that is seriously chocolatey; I had a Bonbon, half expresso, half condensed milk. Now I am in danger of become hyper-caffinated making me a little aggitated and more illogical than normal.
Alan offered to take me to the cinema and I invited Sheona along too. As Alice walked out after half an hour's previous screening, due to some scary bits, it was their second turn. The film itself was certainly moe impressive than I had expected, with a decent plot and some pretty cool gory bits... and best of all: zombies - something not seen in cinemas for years and years. Sheona was dead pleased that a female role lead the film and the inclusion of zombies.
After the film, I made sarcastic comment about my phone not being Pay As You Go to Alice. Sheona stared at me and said "Nowaah..." as she does when I say something that puts someone else down. I do this more often on people I don't know well or people that do not answer back. I hate myself for doing this, but its been ingrained in me through years of practice, mainly on my brother. Once or twice, I have truly regretted the effects that some of my sarcastic comments have had on other people. I still remember saying something to David about 4 years a go and remembering how awful it was. I don't actually remember what I said, just that it was bad and there was nothing more that I could say that would make it less bad. David never replied. Elisha has probably become more acustom to this than anyone else, yet my friends in Cornwall know about it, but look at is as being a part of me. Its certainly something that I have been wanting to leave behind for some years now as it doesn't have any positive effect on anyone. Its always important to have a positive effect on anything that you do. No one should be put down without a good reason as it never has a positive outcome on either the perportraitor or the victim.
After leaving Sheona's place I phoned her back to see where I had mislaid a bag that I was carrying. I told her about my ill-advised sarcastic comments and also my frequent in-ability to sense when someone wanted to get rid of me, usually late at night when people wanted to be by themselves. I said that if I ever say something that hurts people's feelings or overstay my wlecome, then she should say - without any quarms of being subtle.

Heard about Charlie's night out, the morning after. It basically included lots of free drinks and our neighbour being reported to the police for playing his music too loud ...and I slept through it all.
Charlie and I went to the Red Roaster and read the articles on Harold Shipman in the Guardian and Independent. Charlie brought some records, met up with her friends, we had a vegetarian lunch, I left, then Charlie lost the records.
They cam back later in the afternoon, just as I was finishing clearing up my old paperwork and notes. Anna cooked us pasta, then afterwards, they lit up. A non-smoking flat now stinks of fags. Great.
The film: Bad Company was better than I had expected with several twists in the plot and some good acting from Chris Rock. I met up with Sheona afterwards, she had been working at the Gardner Arts Centre where some drama students were performing their own work. She siad that most of them were either anorexic or fat. It was nice to meet up with her as we haven't seen each other for about a week.

Second year - second chance :: Wednesday, July 17 2002 |

Today I am feeling really good - a second chance to get a good grade for the second year. Rather than a failure, its much more like an opportunity. I can do much better and also, I'll be able to focus on my work and study with more clarity than this year. Its going to be much better, all round.
I stopped off to Premier Sales to tell them that I paid my rent on time and that they are crap at account, when the woman there said that it had all gone through, without problems this morning. I wish they would stop nagging Charlie, my flatmate, about these problems. She thought that I was trying to evade my rent because I ran out of money or something. There's no need in worrying someone with loads of things on her plate already (or so she makes out all the time).
Alan has been emailing me all afternoon, wanting to change his hosts as I failed to setup his new hosting account on Saturday. Its been quite hard as I haven't my phone with me, otherwise, everything would have been OK.

Had a good night's sleep for once as I placed a pillow underneath my back to make it more confortable than the floor alone. I tried to persuade Jess and Rob to come to the Red Roaster with me, but they still hadn't even started clearing up their disgusting flat by 1 o'clock.
After enjoying a great Banoffee Pie and a Café au lait I stopped off at the Internet cafe in St. James Street to sort out my emails.
Sheona, Jess and I took up a good place close to the stage and not far from the shoreline. The others arrived a little later after some frustrating phone calls and texts. The music got better as the evening on and I became more drunk. After getting drenched in the sea, I entrusted my wallet and phone to three girls sitting on the shore. In addition to this I also handed them Jess's and Sheona's tops. Later I frantically went around, searching for our stuff after going in the water. After a second attempt this guy noticed me and took me to where they were, I had just been looking in the wrong place. Sheona and Jess were a bit pissed off with me for doing that, but glad to have something to wear. Later, Sheona, Jess, Ross and I ended up dancing in the sea for about half an hour usually with the company of lots of people pissing into the sea. All in all it was a fantastic evening, and I know that I'll be there next year when the event will be going into its third year.
I took a slow bus home, got changed and met Sheona and Jess at their place, then went off to some kind of house warming/21st birthday party. It was pretty lame and everyone left shortly afterwards.

This afternoon I went around small businesses in Penzance asking shop owners if they want to be added to the new directory site, penwith.net for free. The word "free" hit the right key and everyone I spoke to was well up for a free listing. I could have said free-anything and they still would have signed up. In the process I managed to broaden my list of clients for hosting, domains and certainly some future web site design projects.
I met up with Dave Harvey at the Cycle Centre and I discussed his website and the current lack of visitors on the existing site. He was quite impressed with my personal site, Nahoo and the hits it received on a daily basis. So, it looks like I'll be marketing and, on day, designing their website too. Cool.
As the Aga was out we had an Indian takeaway. I was on the internet on the only phone line, until I started wondering why the delivery guy was taking so long... then I realised that he'd left a couple messages on voice mail and I quickly rushed down to catching him asking directions in the village centre. Anyway, the food was hot, but I didn't feel anywhere near as hungry as I had just an half an hour before.
